In India: Watching Life on a Village Street

May 15th, 2012

This is Jesse’s photo “Village Street” come to life. It’s three minutes of watching early morning and early afternoon activity — both on the street and the rooftops. In the morning you can hear wedding music in the distance — in the afternoon you hear school children. There’s also the occasional chugging sound of a thresher separating the wheat grain from the chaff. It’s the season of both wheat and mustard harvest. In the foreground is a stack of cow dung patties that have been shaped and already dried in the sun. The afternoon light is whiter (and picture clearer)… a different feeling.

CDIA Exhibit of my India Photos

October 20th, 2011

Am back to blogging after a several month hiatus!   Am now finishing final prints for an exhibit at the Center for Digital Imaging Art’s Gallery 289 (on Moody St in Waltham).  CDIA is launching a new gallery for staff and alumni, and I have the honor of putting up the first exhibit.  The show goes on the walls on Nov 17th and the reception will be Thurs Dec 1.  We’ll put out a more formal announcement next week.  My son Jesse, who continues to be  a big part of this project, will have images in the show too.

Have just finished printing this photo of Maharajin, the family cook and longtime friend.
